How Do I Get Rid Of Spam Emails?
FAQs & Troubleshooting - Email
Q How do I get rid of SPAM? - Spam Assassin Setup and Config Info...
A: If you are receiving a lot of spam, we have a solution. You need to login to your CPanel Hosting Controls. You will need to enter your domain login and password, which you would have received when you signed up for hosting services with iTech Developers.

Once you login to your CPanel
  • Select "Spam Assassin", located in the "Email Management Tools" section
  • Once in, click the option to "Enable Spam Assassin" - and the program will immediately be enabled to begin filtering out known spam emails.
  • Auto-Delete-Spam: Enabling this setting will automatically discard messages which have been determined to be spam (best option ~ highly recommended)
    • Please note this option may discard valid emails that do not pass the spam filtering system. There is no way to retrieve these messages once Spam Assassin has deleted them.
  • Enable Spam Box: Enbabling this option will force all messages identified as spam to be stored in a special spam box for you to review and manage at any time (not recommended).

    VERY IMPORTANT:
  • If you do select the option to "Enable Spam Box", all spam email will be redirected to a special mail box and held there.
    • If you allow Spam Assassin to run for long periods of time with the "Spam Box" featured enabled, you will eventually begin to run out of web hosting and email storage space, as the storage of these emails will begin to consume that space.
    • We *STRONGLY* recommend coming in to your Spam Assassin at least once a week and selecting the option to "Clear Spam Box", as this will delete all spam emails being stored in your account.

Checking the contents of your "Spam Box" Spam will be stored in a separate Spam Box for "each" email account you have running. If you wish to check and download the contents of your Spam Box(es), you will need to create a separate email account within your preferred email client (such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Mail ...etc.) for "each" of your email addresses.

  • Follow the instructions located here to setup new email accounts.
  • For your Login / Username, you will want to add "/spam" to the end of the login
    • If your email address login is " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ", you would instead enter " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it /spam" for your login name
    • Your email password for your spam box is the same as your regular email password for any given account

Troubleshooting Spam Assassin:
If Spam Assassin is enabled on your hosting account, it may from time to time prevent legitimate emails from business associates or personal friends from passing through to you if for some reason their emails are detected by the system as being spam. In this case, you should enter into the Spam Assassin Configuration screen and add the email addresses from those people to your "WHITELIST". This will prevent Spam Assassin from processing emails from those particular folks as spam and will ensure that you receive those emails promptly.
